Schoolboy at the front of elementary class with teacher
The purpose of the Principal for a Day event is to give legislators, business and community leaders the experience of seeing what’s happening in the schools.    You will spend your time shadowing the principal and sharing responsibilities whenever possible.  This may include reading and interpreting various state and federal directives, visiting classrooms, reading to children, telling them about your job and how you prepared for it, helping to supervise the cafeteria and/or yard, and meeting with the faculty.

Prior to your visit you will receive information about the history of the school, student population, test scores, and the various programs and services that are offered.  You will see, up close and personal, the challenges and rewards of education today.

You will be contacted by the principal prior to your visit to arrange a meeting time and place. Following your day as principal, at 3:30 p.m. we will have a debriefing at the Napa Valley Unified School District, 2425 Jefferson Street, to provide refreshments and share observations and experiences. We especially hope that you are able to attend the debriefing, as we always learn from hearing your perspective about how the schools are doing.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the form form below and scan it to Barbara Nemko via email, (bnemko@napacoe.org), send it via snail mail to 2121 Imola Avenue, Napa CA  94559, or call 253-6810.
