Catalyst Prevention Coalition

Catalyst Prevention Coalition started as a Drug Free Communities coalition and has been working to reduce youth substance use and address and prevent problems relating to youth alcohol and substance use in Napa County for over 11 years. The Coalition recently received Stop Act funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to continue our youth alcohol use prevention efforts.

NCOE has coordinated Catalyst Prevention Coalition since its inception. In particular, NCOE coordinates alcohol prevention efforts and needs assessments regarding youth substance use and other related behaviors (e.g., drunk and drugged driving). Catalyst Coalition includes representatives from many non-profit, government, and school agencies throughout the county and we always welcome new members interested in youth substance use prevention. If you are interested, please contact Aly Hite at ahite@napacoe.org.

Catalyst Prevention Coalition has 3 main goals:

  1.  Increase community collaboration
  2. Reduce alcohol use by youth ages 12-18 years old using parent, youth, and community education; youth development and youth-led advocacy; and policy strategies
  3. Reduce marijuana use by youth ages 12-18 years old using those same strategies
