2018 Martin Luther King, Jr. Dare to Dream Contesthands

In honor of the birthday and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the MLK Coalition, Napa County Office of Education, and League of Women Voters of Napa County are pleased to announce the MLK Dare to Dream Contest.

2018 MLK Dare to Dream Contest Theme:

In Dr. King’s famous 1963 “I Have A Dream Speech,” he states, “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

What is YOUR dream for the future?

Entries will be judged on creativity, clarity, content, and adherence to the theme. Submit entry by Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Winners from each grade level will win a special prize and be recognized as part of the MLK Community Celebration at St. John’s Church on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 7:00 pm.

Contest Rules
  • Open to Middle School students throughout Napa County.
  • One winner from each grade level will be selected.
  • The entry should be limited to no more than 100 words.
  • All entries must include student’s name, grade level, school name, and contact phone number.

CERT Training

Become CERT – ified!

What we do: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is a national program to train citizens to help fill the gap between a disaster or emergency, and the arrival of professional services.

Purpose: In the event of a major disaster, our first responders will be overwhelmed so it’s critical citizens be prepared to take care of themselves, their neighbors, and their community for 5-7 days. The CERT training teaches you how to help after a disaster.

What you will learn: Basic Disaster Response skills, Fire safety, Light search and rescue, Team organization, Personal preparedness, Disaster medical operations.
