Renewing Your Permit or Credential Online
As of January 1, 2007, the Commission requires clear, professional, and professional clear credential holders to renew their credentials online. This includes most Clear, Professional or Professional Clear Credentials, Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permits, and Child Development Permits. However, there are some exceptions. You can renew a credential/permit up to six months prior to its expiration. Credentials renewed online are processed faster than applications submitted by mail. Most often they are posted on CCTC's website within 48 hours, unless there are professional fitness problems. Follow these easy steps to take advantage of this new Teacher Credential (CCTC) service.

You will receive an email confirmation from CCTC after your online application is completed. The commission no longer prints or sends you a copy of your credential/permit. You can print a copy from CCTC's website, once the online application has been processed. It is your responsibility to make sure the county and your district know that you have renewed it, and it is available on the CCTC's website, which is now the official site for all credentials. If your credential has already expired or expires in less than one month a Temporary County Certificate is needed for you to remain in the classroom. Therefore, you should bring your renewal application to the county for them to renew it online. If this procedure is not followed, you will not be issued a Temporary County Certificate.
