Napa County BTSA Support Provider Information

Interested in Becoming a Support Provider?

Being a mentor for a newer teacher is very rewarding!  You can make a difference in teacher retention, student achievement, and overall job satisfaction when supporting new teachers!  Please review the Support Provider Qualifications & Responsibilities and then contact the BTSA Coordinator for more information and to schedule an interview.  We would love to work with you!


Support Provider Enrollment:

Contact Card: All new Support Providers are asked to complete a Contact Card at the beginning of their first year. Support Providers who were involved in the Napa County BTSA as Participating Teachers do not need to do this! Annual Consent Form: All Support Providers (and Participating Teachers) are are asked to agree to participation in Statewide BTSA each year between August and December. Please click here to access the icon Consent Form instructions.

Commitment Form: All Support Providers (Participating Teachers and Site Administrators) are asked to sign the iconCommitment Form each year between August and October. If you use a downloaded document, please be sure to get all 3 signatures and make copies for each party.


Support for Support Providers:

Support Providers receive:

  • High-quality training in standards for teaching and in coaching.
  • Opportunities to examine and reflect on their own practice.
  • Networking with other veteran teachers as they reflect and grow.
  • Opportunities to share expertise with beginning teachers; where possible at the same site and grade level or subject area.
  • Opportunities to develop the ability to observe, coach and conference.

Finally, Support Providers also receive a $1,500 stipend per Participating Teacher paid in two installments in December and May for full completion of their commitment to the Napa County BTSA.


Support Providers are expected to attend the following sessions for which PowerPoint overviews may be downloaded after each training icon Orientation and  icon Advice & Assistance. Please note that these materials are posted for review purposes only.

Additionally, Support Providers are expected to attend training sessions designed to expand their coaching repertoires. Sessions 1 and 2 of "Mentoring Matters" should be attended in the first year as a Support Provider, while sessions 3 and 4 should be attended subsequently. Power Points for these sessions are also posted following the delivery of the training.

Finally, Support Providers and their Participating Teachers will be scheduled for a joint appointment with program leaders in late November and early December. The 30-minute session includes a review of and feedback on the "Context" and "Initial Assessment" documents and personal orientations to the upcoming "Inquiry."
