Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities
The Safe and Drug Free Schools and Community funds (also known as Title IV, SDFSC) come from the US Department of Education and are intended to support effective programs in the schools, grades K-12, to assist in preventing youth from the use of alcohol, illegal drugs and violence. NCOE provides over-site and technical assistance to all districts in their implementation of programs and curriculum. The administration of the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) assists in program planning and monitoring of student data. (See California Healthy Kids Survey link for further information).
Jeanne Title, NCOE Coordinator of Safety, Wellness and Prevention, works directly with all districts to provide comprehensive programs to prevent youth violence and alcohol, drug and tobacco use.
