Project CONNECT
School and Community Violence Prevention (SCVP) grants are state funded grants that help to promote violence prevention education and provide positive alternatives to violence. Students are provided curriculum, youth development activities and opportunities to make a positive difference in their schools. NCOE currently has two SCVP grants. Project All Stars in Calistoga and Project Connect at Valley Oak.
The CONNECT program offers students at Valley Oak High School a number of youth development and violence prevention activities, including the Too Good for Drugs and Violence curriculum, leadership training and career exploration. Another component of the program is parent outreach and education. Guest speaker from local community agencies provide information for parents on topics such as positive discipline and gang, alcohol and drug prevention.
