Foster and Homeless Youth Services

Foster Youth Services

Assembly Bill 490 gives direction to the shared responsibility between education, social services, caregivers, probation officers, juvenile court officers and advocates to serve students in out-of-home placements to promote academic success.  This site is designed to assist you in providing appropriate guidance in decision-making situations.

The McKinney-Vento Education Services for Homeless Youth

McKinney-Vento Education Services provides equal access to enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school; equal access to the same free, appropriate, public education, including public preschool; equal access to educational and other services needed to meet the same challenging academic achievement standards to which all students are held; protects students from being separated from the mainstream school environment due solely to homelessness.
